A Community Workshop and Iron Pour was staged at Jackson Square Park in NE Minneapolis and American Iron was part of the festivities. In the event, area residents young and old create 6 x 6 x 1 inch low-relief sculpture molds that are cast on-site with molten iron from a portable furnace.
American Iron donated 2,000 pounds of scrap cast iron for the pour.
The main source of the materials was radiator stock broken into
pieces small enough to handle and charge the portable furnace.
The community event is part of the Jackson Square Park Public Art Project. Some of the finished sculptures will be permanently installed in the park in 2008.

The event was sponsored by the Minneapolis Park & Recreation Board, the City of Minneapolis Community Planning and Economic Development and the Holland Neighborhood Association.
