The annual event is always popular, but Earth Week 2008 (April 21 through April 26) was particularly busy, despite the less than perfect spring weather. Saturday's Earth Day celebration featured free pop and hot dogs with special bonus pricing all week for aluminum cans.

Many businesses and organizations collect and recycle aluminum cans to generate funds and will choose Earth Day to cash in because of the bonus pricing. And, because the extra money raised is often donated to charities, the results of recycling do much more than just protect the environment.
